Hi there!
The Grand Teton scenic loop drive is the main road that loops around Grand Teton National Park.
This makes it one of the best scenic drives in Wyoming national parks!
If you have limited time in Grand Teton National Park, then this is the area that you’ll want to focus your Grand Teton activities.
You can just drive through Grand Teton National Park!
You could make your one day in Grand Teton National Park just all about the 42-mile scenic loop drive.
There are plenty of quick stops you can make to get some epic pictures of Teton mountain range.
Or, if you are truly limited on time, you really don’t even need to get out of the car to see the epic views!
There are plenty of mountain views to be seen as you are driving without stepping foot outside of your car.
Along the scenic loop road in Grand Teton National Park, you’ll also find the start of some of the most popular hiking trails in the Tetons.

I did a drive through Grand Teton National Park at the end of September 2021.
Moose to Moran WY – driving the eastern side of the 42-mile scenic loop road: US-26/89/191
Explore the map.
The eastern side is the side of the Grand Teton scenic loop road that is further away from the Teton mountain range. This means that overall you’ll get more distant views of the Teton Range while doing this part of the drive.
If you were to drive from Moose WY to Moran WY without any stops, it would take around 20-30 minutes.
For reference, Jackson WY to Moose WY is around a 20 minute drive. (map)
These are stops you can make as you drive through Grand Teton National Park!

👆👆 Walking around the Mormon Row Historic District at the Thomas Alma Moulton historic homestead.
There are 6 homesteads that are part of the Mormon Row Historic District that are being preserved. So it would be possible to easily spend at least an hour here if you want to walk around all of the different homesteads.
Side note! Check the reviews at partner websites included below!
How to save money on your trip to Grand Teton National Park
I use hotels.com to look for the cheapest hotels. You can also try the expedia hotels site (good for car rentals too) or see if you like any of the vrbo vacation rentals or cabins.

This means that overall you’ll get closer views of the Teton Range while doing this part of the drive.
If you were to drive the Teton Park Road from the Jackson Lake Junction to Moose WY without any stops, it would take around 40-50 minutes.
Again for reference, Moose WY to Jackson WY is around a 20 minute drive.
If you are driving from Yellowstone National Park to the Grand Teton scenic loop road, then the Jackson Lake Junction is where you will arrive onto the Grand Teton scenic loop road. (map)
From here, you can continue driving south on the western side of the loop. Or you might do a quick drive to Oxbow Bend Overlook first, and then continue driving south on the western side of the loop. Or you can drive onto the eastern side of the loop to do the list above from the bottom up!
Driving from Old Faithful in Yellowstone to the Jackson Lake junction is around a 1.5 hour drive. (map)
Driving from the West Thumb Geyser Basin in Yellowstone to the Jackson Lake junction is around a 1 hour and 5 minute drive. (map)

This is an operating chapel in the summer, and “regular weekend Masses are celebrated June through September.”

I did not stop here, but see the pictures.
11. Signal Mountain Road
You’ll turn off the main road to drive down the road to the Signal Mountain summit.
I did not drive the Signal Mountain Road, but see the pictures.
👇 Driving the 42-mile scenic loop road in Grand Teton National Park from Signal Mountain Road to Potholes Turnout.
12. Potholes Turnout
If your first experience of driving through Grand Teton National Park is from Moran to Moose along Teton Park Road, or from Yellowstone to Jackson along Teton Park Road, then the Potholes Turnout is a worthy first stop to make!
You’ll get views of the Teton Range from the Potholes Turnout parking lot, and you can also take a trail out into the field to walk with views of the mountains!

As you keep driving on Jenny Lake Road, you will end up back at the 42-mile scenic loop road.
18. Cascade Canyon Turnout
If you skip the turn-off onto the Jenny Lake Scenic Drive, then you’ll come across the Cascade Canyon Turnout.
If you do the Jenny Lake Scenic Drive, then basically this turnout is along the portion of the road that you miss on the 42-mile scenic loop road.
So if you want to make a stop at this turnout, after you’ve completed the Jenny Lake Scenic Drive, you’ll seemingly do a little backtracking to get here.
👇 Driving to Jenny Lake Visitor Center off of 42-mile scenic loop road in Grand Teton National Park.

2 days in Grand Teton National Park
It is quite reasonable to do the entire Grand Teton scenic loop drive in one day.
And it can also be perfect to break up the Grand Teton scenic loop drive into 2 days.
On day 1, you can do one side of the loop, along with 1-2 along hiking trails.
And on day 2, you can do the other side of the loop, along with another 1-2 hiking trails.
That is what I did as part of my 3 days in Grand Teton and Yellowstone.
Below will show you a list of what you can see on each of the sides of the Grand Teton scenic loop.
