Hi there!

Hawaii is hot, and you need to stay hydrated as you are driving the Road to Hana!

But just how hydrated will you want to stay depends on how often you can find a bathroom…?!

So then…

Are there bathrooms on the Road to Hana?

Yes, there are bathrooms on the Road to Hana.

The easiest bathrooms to use on the Road to Hana will be the public bathrooms.

Here is the quick list of public bathrooms on the Road to Hana

This might not be an exhaustive list, but these are public parks located along the Road to Hana with bathrooms.

Being parks along the Road to Hana, it doesn’t just have to be a bathroom stop!

You can make it one of your worthy Road to Hana stops too!

For reference of each of these bathroom stops between Paia and Hana, you can take a look at the maps linked below.

Download offline google maps before you go!

If you won’t be buying some sort of Road to Hana offline guide, then google maps can be just fine, as long as you are able to access it!

You may not have service on most of the Road to Hana.

During my one week on the Road to Hana I relied on offline google maps and offline mapsme, and both were helpful. (Both free!)

1. Hookipa Beach

Explore the map.

Hookipa Beach is an early Road to Hana stop, or make it your last Road to Hana stop on the way back!

Sunset can be a perfect time to visit Hookipa Beach, as evening seems to be a good chance to see turtles!

You also have a chance to see seals at Hookipa Beach.

If everyone in the group has to go to the bathroom it might be a little more difficult because you may or may not be able to find parking.

There are many worthy reasons to drive off of Hana Highway and down to the Keanae Peninsula!

You can make the Keanae Peninsula a bathroom stop + banana bread stop + lava lookout stop!

6. Hana Bay Beach

Explore the map.

You can make Hana Bay Beach a bathroom stop + a quiet Road to Hana beach stop.

7. Hana Ball Park

Explore the map.

This is a community baseball field.

This can be your bathroom stop if you will be going to the red sand beach.

It was open when I went. But if the bathrooms are locked, then Hana Bay Beach is just around the corner.

8. Hamoa Beach

Explore the map.

You can make Hamoa Beach a bathroom stop + a Road to Hana beach stop.

9. Kipahulu District, Haleakala National Park

Explore the map.

There is paid entry for Haleakala National Park, so this can be a bathroom stop for you if you already have plans to go here!

If you are driving the back road to Hana after Kipahulu, consider this your last bathroom stop!

There used to be a bathroom for “donation” at the Kaupo General Store, but it seems this has since closed.

HAWAII TRAVEL TIPS

🐠 Here are things you must consider packing for Hawaii!
You can find these things on Amazon. I am an Amazon Associate.

I also don't go snorkeling in Hawaii without a personal swim float buoy. Not only does it help to keep me visible, but it makes for a perfect way to rest out in deeper water! Oh, and it also serves as a dry bag so I can take stuff into the water with me.

Another way I have taken valuables into the water with me is to wear a travel money belt that I don't mind getting wet with salt water (it's not waterproof but I have several so I just use one of them) and then I put things in a ziplock freezer bag, and put that freezer bag in the money belt.

There are also designated waterproof waist pouches that you can store your valuables and take into the water with you.
