ALOHA!
Friday night fireworks are a thing in Waikiki!
The fireworks are put on by the Hilton Hawaiian Village along Waikiki Beach.
It’s free to watch the Friday night fireworks in Waikiki which makes it one of the best things to do in Waikiki!
👆 Every Friday night on Oahu, there are fireworks in Waikiki.
According to the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki:
Every Friday night our beachfront becomes the stage for our Friday Night Fireworks Show.
The Hilton Hawaiian Village does have a public beach out in front, so you can watch the Friday night fireworks in Waikiki from the Duke Kahanamoku Beach even if you are not staying at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.
But, you also don’t need to go to the Hilton Hawaiian Village in order to watch the Friday night fireworks!
The Hilton Hawaiian Village fireworks can be seen from different parts of Waikiki… and even outside of Waikiki!
👆 One of the best places to watch the Hilton Hawaii Village Friday night fireworks is at Waikiki Beach! You can watch the fireworks in Waikiki while sitting on the beach!

👆 Depending on where on Waikiki Beach you are watching the Friday night fireworks from, you might be able to see the reflection of the fireworks on the water!
But, not every part of Waikiki Beach is a good spot to watch the Friday night fireworks from.
So it won’t be enough just to get yourself to a beach.
If you want to watch the Friday night fireworks from Waikiki Beach, you need to specifically go to a spot where the fireworks can be seen well.
Generally speaking, this is from the beach at the Hilton Hawaiian Village on one end, to the beach at the Outrigger Reef.
Note that there are 2 “Outrigger” hotels in Waikiki.
You can watch the fireworks from other parts of Waikiki Beach too, but you just need to be sure to get far enough away from the tall buildings that obstruct the view of the fireworks. And it will also be a more distant view of the fireworks.
👆 You can watch the Friday night fireworks from different parts of Waikiki, including on the opposite end of Waikiki Beach from the Hilton Hawaiian Village.
Between the Hilton Hawaiian Village and Outrigger Reef will give you the closest views of the fireworks from Waikiki Beach!
You can even watch the Friday night fireworks from a boat! (Read the reviews)
There are also Waikiki sunset cruises so you can watch the sunset from a boat with the Waikiki skyline and the iconic Diamond Head as the backdrop! $$
What time are the Friday night fireworks in Waikiki?
The Hilton Hawaiian Village Friday night fireworks in Waikiki start at 8pm or 7:45pm, depending on the time of year.
If you want to be safe, get to your watch spot in time for a 7:45pm fireworks start just in case!
When you are in Waikiki, here is how to confirm what time the fireworks start:
In the past, the Hilton Hawaiian Village activities website also listed a fireworks time, but it seems they have since removed that. But you can check there too in case it’s added back.
For example, here is what is on the Hawaii tourism website in April 2023:
Courtesy of the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort, a spectacular fireworks show lights up the sky over Waikiki Beach beginning at 7:45 pm weekly.
Viewing can be seen around Waikiki and Ala Moana Beach.
Parking is available in the area.
You can pay $10 at the Hilton Hawaiian’s parking garage.
Cost for the fireworks show?
Free!
How long do the Waikiki fireworks last?
You should also know that the Friday night fireworks are short.
The Hilton Hawaiian Village Friday night fireworks in Waikiki last for 5 minutes, if that.
I checked the timestamp on my pictures, and the fireworks started at 8:00pm and ended at 8:04pm.
So take that into consideration if you’re not staying in Waikiki and you’re trying to decide whether or not to go!
When the fireworks ended, it was kind of like, oh that’s it?
But at the same time, it was a cool way to see the fireworks. So with the minimal effort required to get to the Waikiki Beach fireworks watch spot (and because it’s FREE!), I totally thought it was worth it!
If you’re staying in Waikiki, it’s easy enough to go and watch the fireworks, so yes, seeing the fireworks reflecting on the water is worth it!
What is a good spot to watch the Friday night fireworks in Waikiki?
The Fort DeRussy Beach near the Outrigger Reef hotel is a great spot to watch the Friday night fireworks in Waikiki!
It is free to watch the Friday night fireworks from Waikiki Beach, and that includes Fort DeRussy Beach!
I went to my first Friday night fireworks in Waikiki in September 2022. (Since I won’t count that time I saw a glimpse of the fireworks at my airbnb outside of Waikiki a few years ago!)
So, at that time, I had only seen the Waikiki fireworks from one location.
Having nothing to compare it to, I thought watching the fireworks from the Fort DeRussy Beach by the Outrigger Reef was a perfect spot!
I later saw the fireworks from further away on Waikiki Beach, and I would still say Fort DeRussy Beach is perfect!
👆 Fort DeRussy Beach near the Outrigger Reef hotel is one of the best places to watch the Friday night fireworks in Waikiki! (map)
There is a bus stop that’s located around a 5 minute walk from this beach. I got off at this bus stop. (map) See more about taking the Oahu bus.
👆 You can watch the Friday night fireworks in Waikiki from the beach in front of Steak Shack and the Outrigger Reef hotel.
The easiest landmark for this fireworks watch spot for reference on a map is Steak Shack. (This is also the location of Banan and Tropical Tribe, more Waikiki Beach food spots.)
There is a walking path to the beach at the intersection of Saratoga and Kalia (map).
Steak Shack is a popular Waikiki food spot. It seems like they stay open on Friday evenings until a little before the fireworks begin. (menu + reviews)
If you are interested in eating at Steak Shack before the fireworks, it’s best to call during the day to confirm their hours. (Listed phone number: 808-861-9966)
During the day, this area is also one of the best spots for a chance to see turtles in Waikiki.
👆 You can watch the Friday night fireworks on Waikiki Beach! I was happy to have a travel size pocket blanket to sit on at the beach!
If you are looking for some easy food after watching the fireworks from Fort DeRussy Beach, there is an ABC Store on Lewers Street that is a few minutes walk away. (map)
In general, the ABC Stores in Waikiki can be good to get some easy grab-and-go food, and this particular ABC Store has a wider selection of food… and more!
If you want to try the local food, walk a couple minutes more, and you will get to a popular Waikiki food spot of Musubi Cafe. (map)
If you want a frozen snack, then there is also Cafe Glace nearby. (map)
Or you can just walk down Lewers Street to see what else is around!
👆 If you don’t see a video above, you can watch the Hilton Hawaiian Village Friday night fireworks video on youtube.
👆 There was a heart in the fireworks!
More hearts in Hawaii:
👆 On the opposite end of Waikiki Beach, you can watch the Friday night fireworks near Barefoot Beach Cafe, Queens Beach, and Kapiolani Park. (map)
👆 Watch the video of Barefoot Beach Cafe during the day.
👆 You can eat at Barefoot Beach Cafe while you wait for the fireworks to start. (menu + reviews)
