What is on the Honolulu cruise port map?

 

Bus from Honolulu cruise port

There are things you can do from the Honolulu cruise port by bus if you are ready for slow island life!

There is the Oahu bus.

If you are taking the bus, bring cash in dollar bills to pay for bus fare with exact change.

There is also the HOLO card for the Oahu bus, which may or may not make sense for you, depending on what you are looking to do during your time in Honolulu.

The holo card is not required, but makes it very convenient to take the bus!

The easiest place to get a holo card is at an ABC store in Waikiki. There are ABC stores on practically every block of Waikiki.

But coming from the cruise ship, it will be easiest to pay $3 in cash for the bus fare to get to Waikiki.

Then in Waikiki you can go to an ABC store to get a holo card for $10 in cash. (Only cash will be accepted to pay for the holo card at an ABC store. You can pay by credit card for other store items, just not the holo card.)

This $10 will be good for a day pass once you get on the bus. ($7.50 day pass + $2 holo card fee. Check current fees.)

Or if you plan on only staying in Waikiki, then you can just pay the $3 bus fare in cash from the Honolulu cruise port to Waikiki, then $3 cash back to the cruise port, no holo card necessary.

It just depends on how much you plan on taking the bus!

 

Can you get a HOLO card near the Honolulu cruise port?

The official HOLO card website has a list of locations that you can get a holo card in and outside of Waikiki.

There are locations listed that you can buy a holo card that are a 15-20 minute walk from the Honolulu cruise port.

There are some locations near the King Kamehameha Statue and Iolani Palace, icons of Honolulu you may want to go to.

So it could make sense to buy your holo card near the cruise port if you do want to take a walk over to these places before you go to Waikiki.

See the map of where to buy HOLO cards. On the map, you can look for the Aloha Tower. This may be one of the easier landmarks to find and locate the cruise port, which is just north or south of there depending on your cruise line.

You can take a bus from the Honolulu cruise port to Waikiki

There are a lot of bus stops in Waikiki.

For example you can set your destination in Waikiki as Duke Kahanamoku Statue, an icon in Waikiki you’ll want a picture of!

You can use google maps to help guide you! For example: map. To get the best idea, set the departure time to around the time you might be taking the bus. The default is the current time in Hawaii.

You can take a bus from the Honolulu cruise port to Pearl Harbor.

There are free things to do in Pearl Harbor without a tour, but you will want to buy $1 tickets for the must-see USS Arizona Memorial at recreation.gov. It’s best to buy tickets early because they do sell out!

 

Honolulu cruise port to airport bus

If you are disembarking at the Honolulu cruise port, then you can take a bus from Honolulu cruise port to the airport.

It’s best if you only have carry-on luggage.

Official bus rules do state luggage isn’t allowed, but I have never had a problem with carry-on.

Otherwise, there is a Honolulu airport shuttle and you can also get an uber to the airport.
