DT Fleming Beach Park is located at Honokahua Bay in West Maui, in the Kapalua area.
Fleming Beach (aka Honokahua Beach) is best known for its surf being good for boogie boarding (body boarding).
Fleming Beach is also the Ritz Carlton Kapalua beach
If you’re staying at the Ritz Carlton Kapalua, then Fleming Beach is your beach! (Even if you’re not staying at the Ritz Carlton, this can be your beach!)
This is the beach that’s a few minutes walk in front of the resort. So it’s not directly a beachfront hotel, but there are rooms with ocean views available.
You can also get food and drinks with ocean views right in front of Fleming Beach, with seating at the Burger Shack that’s operated by the Ritz Carlton.
Parking at DT Fleming Beach
There is a proper parking lot for DT Fleming Beach. On google maps, it’s listed as DT Fleming Park.
You can also consider this parking for the Kapalua Coastal Trail.
There’s also a small parking lot in front of the Dragons Teeth trailhead, and you’d walk 5-10 minutes to get to Fleming Beach. (google maps)
Getting to DT Fleming Beach by bus
It’s possible to get to Fleming Beach by bus. There’s a bus that goes to Kapalua.
It’s about a 10-15 minute walk from the nearest bus stop to Fleming Beach.
If you’re coming from Kaanapali or Lahaina, then it’ll be a direct bus to get to Kapalua. It’s a 45 minute bus ride from Kaanapali, and a 75 minute bus ride from Lahaina. If you’re coming from elsewhere, then you’ll transfer at Lahaina to get on the bus to Kapalua.
Google maps is a reliable way to get around Maui by bus. You’ll select the public transit option. If it’s not showing that the bus stop is a 10-15 minute walk from the beach, then that likely means the bus is temporarily not going there. But in normal times, you can get there by bus!
This bus route is generally once an hour, so it’s best to plan ahead and pay attention to the bus timings!

Fleming Beach Park was named for David Thomas Fleming, a former manager of Honolua Ranch.
Fleming introduced pineapple to West Maui as a commercial crop and converted the cattle ranch to a pineapple plantation.

- Take the Dragon’s Teeth Trail to walk out to Makaluapuna Point (find the trailhead a 10 minute walk from the beach)
- Continue your walk further south on the Kapalua Coastal Trail for a leisurely walk with ocean views! (And likely minimal people)
