Hi there!
There are many comfort stations located throughout the Fort Wilderness campground.

So no campsite is too far from a comfort station, and this means that you will never be too far from a bathroom (and more things to make for a comfortable camping experience!) when you’re camping at Disney World!

A comfort station at the Fort Wilderness campground is basically a fancy name for the campground bathroom and campground shower.
You can also call it the Fort Wilderness bathhouse.

There are a few other things that can help you have a comfortable campground stay (comforts… 😜) that you can find at a Fort Wilderness comfort station, but the bathroom and showers are the most important parts of it!
When you make your Fort Wilderness campground reservation, it’s also possible to request a campsite near a comfort station. More on this below as well.

A little bit about the Fort Wilderness amenities below!
🌴
Fort Wilderness campground amenities: What types of amenities does the Fort Wilderness comfort station have?
1. The Fort Wilderness comfort station is a “modern” bathroom.

It’s a comfortable bathroom facility with flush toilets, electricity, and sinks.
It’s free to use the bathroom.
2. There are showers.

The Fort Wilderness bathroom also serves as the Fort Wilderness shower room.
You’ll enter the bathroom and then walk back to the shower area.

It’s free to take a shower.

3. The comfort station is open 24/7.

The Fort Wilderness comfort station never closes, so you can go to the bathroom and take a shower no matter what time it is.
The door does lock overnight however.
So if you are making a trip to the bathroom in the late hours of the night or early hours of the morning, then don’t forget to take your Disney card so you can open the bathroom door with your card!

You will get this Disney card when you check in to the campground.
4. There is a laundry room.

There is also a laundry room located at the Fort Wilderness comfort station.

You can expect to pay $3 for the washing machine and $3 for the dryer, so it will be $6 to do a load of laundry at the Fort Wilderness campground.
You can also by laundry detergent in the laundry room for $1.

5. There is a minimal dishwashing sink.

You can find a sink inside the laundry room.
This isn’t really to do any major dish washing, as the drain won’t allow for big food scraps to go down.
But if you’ve mostly cleared off your plates at your campsite and you want to clean your dishes up with soap, then you can use the sink in the laundry room for washing dishes.

It’s free to use this sink.
6. There is an ice machine.

There is an ice machine at the Fort Wilderness comfort station.
It’s located directly outside the building. If you don’t see it on one side of the building, head to the other side of the building!

You can expect to pay $2 to get ice from the ice machine.
Elsewhere at Fort Wilderness, it’s also possible to buy a bag of ice at the Meadow Trading Post, which is basically the Fort Wilderness campground store.

7. There is a phone.

You can think of this similar to the phone you’d find in your hotel room that you would use to call the front desk. You can make calls to places around Fort Wilderness and Disney World.
There are phone numbers listed by the phone.

Side note: The Fort Wilderness Campground also has wifi. This is FREE. You will get the free wifi from your campsite.
8. You can request to be near a comfort station.

When you make a reservation for the Fort Wilderness Campground, you won’t be making a request for a specific campsite. It’s kind of like booking a hotel. Your campsite (hotel room) will be assigned to you when you arrive.
But, if staying at a campsite near a comfort station will make your camping life at Disney World that much more comfortable, then it is possible to ask about getting a campsite that is near a comfort station.
Although, just because you ask doesn’t necessarily mean you will receive, because it does depend on the campsite availability when you arrive!
But still, there is no harm in asking.
So, if you want to be near the bathroom, you can put in that request.
How to request a Fort Wilderness campsite near a comfort station?
You can make the campsite request to be near a Fort Wilderness comfort station when you make your Fort Wilderness campground reservation.
Even if you aren’t ready to book a campsite at this very moment, you can still go through the motions to see what the “request” is like by starting the process of booking a Fort Wilderness campsite.
You can put in a random date into the Fort Wilderness campground booking website.
For a higher chance of availability (so you can do this “test”) it may be better to check the dates for a 1 night stay during the week.
You can “check out” and “continue” without providing an email address. Look for “continue without signing in” in small print.
You will be able to put in “campsite requests” that include a request to be near a comfort station.
This will be on the payment page right below the campsite equipment where you select tent or truck / van camper or pop-up camper. It is called “campsite requests.”
The reservation process may change, but it’s something like that!
Then, when you arrive at the Fort Wilderness Campground to check in, they will see your request to be near a comfort station.
Then they will tell you the available campsites that there are in various loops if available.
At that time, you can also refer to the campground map to see the different loops. You will be provided this when you check in.
It could be good to be somewhat familiar with the Fort Wilderness campground so you’ll know what’s important to you.

👆 When you check in to Fort Wilderness, you’ll be given a Fort Wilderness campground map. CS = comfort station. On the map, the top loops are mostly RV camping loops, with a couple loops for both tent camping and RV camping. The bottom loops are cabins where there aren’t many comfort stations.
For example, if given a choice as an RV camper, do you want a campsite near the main Meadow area where there are a bunch of Fort Wilderness campground activities located? Or do you want a campground loop near the boat transportation to Magic Kingdom? etc!
If you’re tent camping, you only have 2 campground loops to choose from: loop 1500 and loop 2000. In that case, if you have a choice as a tent camper, you might want to be able to say which one you’d prefer. Loop 1500 is within walking distance or biking distance of the main swimming pool in the “Meadow” for example. It’s also closer to where other Fort Wilderness campground activities are located at the Bike Barn and Campfire area.
And that’s a bit about the amenities at the Fort Wilderness campground bathroom!
