How to get ice at Fort Wilderness
You can get 2 types of ice at the Fort Wilderness campground.
1. Fort Wilderness comfort station ice

A Fort Wilderness comfort station is basically the bathroom and showers… and a few other things… like laundry, and… ice!

There are many comfort stations located throughout the Fort Wilderness campground.
So no campsite is too far from a comfort station, and this means that you will never be too far from ice!
And that also means that the most convenient way to get ice will be from the comfort station.
This is an ice machine like you would find in a hotel.
The only difference is that you have to pay for it.

You will need to have a container or plastic bag or something to retrieve the ice.
The ice machine will be located outside the comfort station building. If you don’t see it on one side… head over to the other side of the building!
You can access this ice machine at any time 24/7.
How much does ice cost at Fort Wilderness?
If you buy ice from the comfort station, then it will cost $2. (Cost subject to change! Price as of December 2021.)

As of December 2021, you pay for the ice using credit card. (It seems the comfort station ice machine used to be coin operated.)

And you will want to wait to insert your credit card until after you are ready for to receive the ice! (aka put the bucket under where the ice comes out, and then make payment.)

2. Meadow Trading Post ice

The Meadow Trading Post is the campground store located at the Fort Wilderness campground.

If you are looking for a bag of ice, then the Meadow Trading Post is where you want to buy your ice.
The ice box is located outside the store, but first you will go inside the store to pay for the ice.

Then, you can go outside to pick up a bag of ice!

You’ll probably want to drive to pick up ice at the Meadow Trading Post.
The Meadow Trading Post parking areas are located near campground loops 900 and 1000. You will get a map when you check in to Fort Wilderness so you can refer to that map.
If you’re driving a car, then there are limited parking spots. The Meadow Trading Post parking for cars is limited to 15 minutes.
So buy your ice and out! 😜
There’s probably a better chance of being able to find a spot during the day, as compared to the evening.

There are a few spots for cars on the campground store side. Maybe there are 4-5 parking spots.

And there are a few more spots located across the road. Again, maybe there are 4-5 parking spots.

If you’re driving a golf cart, then there are a few spots right near the campground store.

And then right next to that to the right, there’s a separate bigger parking lot just for golf carts. (In case you haven’t heard, renting a golf cart is a thing at Fort Wilderness!)
The Meadow Trading Post hours are 8:30am to 10pm. (Hours subject to change!)

How much does ice cost at Fort Wilderness?
If you buy ice from Meadow Trading Post, then it will cost around $3 for a 10 pound bag of ice. (Cost subject to change! Price as of December 2021.)

And that’s a bit about ice at Fort Wilderness!
