Hi there!
According to Florida State Parks, the water temperature of Wekiwa Springs are one of the many Florida springs that are a constant 72 degrees year-round.
This means that in theory, you can go swimming in the Wekiwa Springs any time of year.
Although 72 degrees is on the cooler side, in terms of water temperature it can still be considered “warm” enough for swimming… for some people!
As long as you can handle coming out of the water wet to a cooler air temperature, then you can go swimming at Wekiwa Springs any time of year – summer, spring, fall, and even winter!
That said, a water temperature in the upper 70s or lower 80s is an ideal water temperature for swimming for most people! And for some people low 70s is definitively NOT swimming temperature!
So, it really depends on your tolerance for colder water and just how much you want to go swimming in Wekiwa Springs!

Side note!
Here's a sample 2-day drive from Orlando to St Augustine to Amelia Island!
In the morning head to Blue Spring State Park to see manatees (winter only), then drive along the A1A through Flagler Beach, then stop by Washington Oaks Gardens State Park, then stop by Fort Matanzas National Monument, and then stay overnight in St Augustine! The next morning, watch a St Augustine sunrise! Then you can continue your drive up north, stopping by the St Augustine Lighthouse, maybe Anastasia State Park, maybe a St Augustine food truck, maybe historic St Augustine including Castillo de San Marcos National Monument. Continue the drive on the A1A and stop to go shelling at South Ponte Vedra Beach, and then onwards to take the Mayport car ferry. (The ferry is closed through early May 2023, check for updates.) Then stop by Big Talbot Island State Park to go to Boneyard Beach (short hike), and then finally... you've made it to Amelia Island beaches!

Trip to Wekiwa Springs State Park
My trip to Wekiwa Springs was in November 2021.
Personally I find a water temperature of 72 degrees to be cold.
And when the air temperature is in the upper 60s (as it was when I was there midday in November), it can feel colder!
I was not able to make it in past my waist. 😜
It was also a bit overcast at the time which also didn’t help!
Getting to Wekiwa Springs State Park
Wekiwa Springs State Park is on google maps.
But to be sure you will get proper driving directions, it could be good to put the Ranger Station (map) or Wekiwa Springs State Park campground (map) as your destination. This will get you to the Wekiwa Springs State Park entrance.
The spot google maps gives for Wekiwa Springs State Park is a random spot in the middle of the park.
If you simply put in Wekiwa Springs, google maps will likely bring up the city of Wekiwa Springs FL which won’t help you in navigating to the state park.
So once you are close, you will start seeing signs for Wekiwa Springs State Park, and then basically you will just drive in!
Then once you have paid the state park entrance fee, you can look for a sign and follow it to the swimming area.
This will take you to a large parking lot that loops around. You can access a trail to the swimming area in the first area of the parking lot, but you can also loop around the parking lot to return back to the area. This will also be on the side that’s closer to the springs. It’s really not that big of a deal where you park though. You will be able to find the trail to Wekiwa Springs.
If you keep driving to the “end” of the parking lot, you’ll see the Wekiwa Springs picnic area.
And then if you continue driving to loop around, you’ll be brought back to the area where you can find a boardwalk trail to the Wekiwa Springs swimming area.
You can ask for a Wekiwa Springs State Park map when you enter the park to get a better idea of the visual!

And then once you have parked, you can look for the boardwalk trail to Wekiwa Springs!

And then you will start to see the swimming area of the springs!
And then you will reach the spring! It is kind of like an outdoor swimming pool!
And that’s a bit about the Wekiwa Springs swimming area!
