If you are flying into Honolulu Airport in the morning and arriving to Waikiki several hours before your room check-in… what to do?!
First you can see if your hotel offers luggage storage.
If so, you can just head to your hotel early, drop off your luggage, and then go off to get your first glimpse of Waikiki while you wait for your check-in time!
Similarly, if you have quite a bit of time between your check-out time and your flight out of Honolulu later in the day with nowhere to put your luggage, then you can once again see if your hotel offers luggage storage.
If they do, you can leave your luggage with them, and then go and spend your final hours in Waikiki!
But if you are in a situation where you don’t have anywhere to store your luggage, then the next best option might be to use a baggage storage service in Waikiki!
Which is what I did!
I used Waikiki Baggage and Luggage Storage.
As of fall 2022 they are located near the corner of Kalakaua Avenue and Ohua Avenue near the Waikiki Beach Marriott. The address is 118 Ohua Avenue. (They changed locations in August 2022.)
This is a central area of Waikiki aka very convenient area of Waikiki!
Kalakaua Avenue is the main road that goes through Waikiki.
After you drop off your luggage, it will just be a couple of minutes by foot to get to Waikiki Beach!
In September 2022, I flew into Honolulu Airport at around 10am.
The check-in for my Waikiki airbnb wasn’t until 3pm, so I decided to try out Waikiki Baggage and Luggage Storage.
And, the whole process was very easy and worked out quite well!
I took an uber from Honolulu Airport to Waikiki, and then dropped off my luggage at the Waikiki baggage storage!
If you have minimal luggage, then you can also try the bus from Honolulu Airport to Waikiki.
And then, there is also a shuttle from Honolulu Airport that you can use.

How to store your luggage in Waikiki when you have an early flight or late flight!
I used luggage storage in Waikiki in September 2022. Your experience may vary!
1. Touch down at Honolulu Airport!
2. Get a ride from Honolulu Airport to Waikiki
Once you have collected your luggage from baggage claim, you will follow the signs to exit the airport!
Then, you will follow more signs (hopefully!) to further figure out where to go depending on how you are getting to Waikiki.
How to get from Honolulu Airport to Waikiki:
- Honolulu Airport shuttle
- Honolulu Airport uber
- Honolulu Airport bus (minimal luggage only!)
3. Arrive at Waikiki Baggage Storage on Ohua Avenue!
Look for GOLF!
Follow the signs to find Waikiki Baggage Storage!
4. Drop off your luggage in Waikiki!
You’ll enter a phone number and you will receive a text confirmation about your bags.
How much does luggage storage in Waikiki cost?
The cost of luggage storage in Waikiki is $8 per bag for the day. It doesn’t matter how much time you store your bags, it’s the same price.
5. Walk to Waikiki Beach!!!
So basically, once you give your phone number and you pay, that’s it, and you are out of there!
The process was so quick.
And then you will start walking towards the ocean (it will be obvious which direction it is!) and you are at Waikiki Beach before you know it!
This is a convenient (aka busy) part of Waikiki Beach.
If you want a quieter area, once you are at Waikiki Beach, you can head to the LEFT (as you are facing the ocean), and just generally keep walking that way along the coastline!
If you want to continue to be where the action is, then go right!
Hungry?!
Head to an ABC Store for grab and go food in Waikiki! Buy your food, and then find a bench along Waikiki Beach to eat with views!
Want more food with views?!
If you are heading to the quieter side of Waikiki, then keep walking until you see Barefoot Beach Cafe! (map – you don’t have to stick to the main road!)
If you are going to keep walking in the central area of Waikiki, then depending on your timing you can try Kai Coffee Hawaii at Kuhio Beach (they have a storefront and a pop-up location in a shelter area across the street – map) or Waikiki Grass Shack Bistro also at Kuhio Beach. (map – you can ignore the “walking directions” – you can go directly!) You can order an acai bowl at both of these food spots.
Or you can keep walking further to places like Sunrise Shack, Tropical Tribe, or the Steak Shack (map – again you can walk more directly than the “walking directions” show! You can even walk more directly along Waikiki Beach for much of it.)
6. Pick up your luggage
Then when it’s time, you can head back and pick up your luggage!
Once again, the process is quick.
7. Go check in to your room in Waikiki, or head to Honolulu Airport!
And that’s a bit about luggage storage in Waikiki!
