ALOHA!
You can get a shuttle at Honolulu Airport.
You can look for the shuttle ticket counter when you get to the baggage claim area of Honolulu Airport.
There are several shuttle ticket counter locations at the airport.
Or, you can book your shuttle ahead and follow the instructions that way.
Either way, it’s a simple process! Below I show you what it was like for me to take the shuttle from the airport.
There are currently no Waikiki hotels that provide a free shuttle from the airport.
Partner websites are included in this post.
There are private shuttles and shared shuttles that you can book. As you can imagine, the shared shuttles will be cheaper.
You can take a look at the current cost of a shuttle from Honolulu airport to Waikiki.
There are shuttles that include a grand ALOHA welcome, with a shuttle that includes a lei greeting!

Now…
A bit more about taking the shuttle from Honolulu Airport to a Waikiki hotel!
In 2018, I arrived to Honolulu airport at night around 11:30pm.
Because of the flight arrival timing, instead of taking a bus from the airport to Waikiki like I did before, I opted to go for the shuttle.
It was a super simple process!
Arrive at HNL Honolulu Airport!

Get your bags from baggage claim

Go to the airport shuttle counter and pay the shuttle fare

I didn’t book ahead.
I just arrived in Honolulu and went to the shuttle service counter which was in front of the baggage claim area.

Depending on which part of the airport your flight arrives at, it may or may not be in front of the baggage claim for your flight.
You can find an airport employee to ask, and they will probably know! There are probably signs too.
It is also possible to make a booking for an airport shuttle to Waikiki. (A little more on that in a bit.)
Get on the shuttle!
Shortly after I paid for my shuttle ticket, I was directed which way to go.
I walked over and got into the van.
It was a friendly driver with ALOHA spirit. 🙂
Enjoy the ride to your Waikiki hotel!

With no stops, the ride from the airport to Waikiki may take around 20-30 minutes.
Since this is a shared shuttle, it may take longer depending on how many hotels the shuttle needs to stop at before it reaches your Waikiki hotel.
Some shuttles may only stop at major hotels, so it may require a short walk.
But with hotel stops scattered throughout Waikiki, it shouldn’t be too long of a walk even if you’re not staying at one of the major hotels.
ENJOY WAIKIKI!!

And there’s a little bit about the airport shuttle!
If you’re arriving to Oahu and it’s just 1 or 2 of you… and you’re not carrying much luggage… and you’re looking to save a little bit of money during your trip to Hawaii, then you may also consider taking the public bus from Honolulu Airport to Waikiki.
You may also consider taking an uber from the Honolulu airport.

And even if you decide to take the shuttle from the airport, getting around Oahu by bus during your stay in Waikiki might be worth considering!
See ideas for where to go by bus from Waikiki.
I also have taken an uber from Honolulu airport to Waikiki.
I also did luggage storage in Waikiki if you are in need of something like that if you don’t have a hotel to keep your luggage at for an early flight into Honolulu or late flight out of Honolulu.
HAPPY AIRPORT SHUTTLE RIDE TO WAIKIKI!
