ALOHA!
If you want to try some Hawaiian food when you’re in Hawaii on the Big Island (and some fusion Filipino and Hawaiian food), you might give a look to the restaurant in Kona called Broke Da Mouth Grindz!

This restaurant has been featured on TV on the Food Network. It was a part of Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives on an episode about “off-the-chain culinary journey.”
There are some menu items that are listed “as seen on TV.” For these, try the garlic furikake chicken ($16) or garlic butter shrimp ($19).
At this place, there’s a bar section and a restaurant section.
For dinner, the seated restaurant area opens at 5pm.

But if you arrive early you can have a seat at the bar and order drinks.
They also have a special chili pepper sauce.
If you’re brave, you can drink it straight.
Otherwise, you can dip your food in it.

This restaurant is popular in Kona, and it can get full.
If you can manage, it could be a good idea to be there when dinner service starts for the best chance at having minimal wait time.
Otherwise, you might consider ordering carry-out so you don’t have to wait so long for a table for a taste of the food!
