Do you have to pay to see the Southernmost Point of the Continental USA?

If you are driving to Key West and all you want to do is SEE the famous icon of the Southernmost Point (and you don’t care about getting a picture), then you can just drive by to see it.

For free street parking, locate the Southernmost Point on google maps, and head east on South Street from there. Starting a few blocks down, you will find free street parking on South Street. You can drive around that area to look for more free street parking.
Of course it will depend on where you find an open parking space, but maybe you will walk 10 minutes to get to the Southernmost Point of the Continental USA.
It’s not a bad walk at all, as it’s a touristy area.
You’ll pass by some “southernmost” branded shops and restaurants. You can eat in this area, and you can do your souvenir shopping.
You can also stop by the “southernmost beach” of South Beach on your way to the Southernmost Point.
If you are getting around Key West without a car, then you can get to the southernmost point by taking the free Duval Loop bus. (bus route map)
If you will be taking the Key West Old Town hop-on hop-off trolley (which you need to pay for), then the trolley will go right past the Southernmost Point.
So you can see the Southernmost Point from the trolley, or you can get off at the southernmost trolley stop and get up close and personal to the southernmost point buoy.
And then you can also bike to the Southernmost Point!
How to get to the Southernmost Point by bus
There is the Duval Loop bus that is basically a free public bus that loops around the Key West Historic District.

There is always a line to take a picture with the Southernmost Point buoy
Unless you are going to the Southernmost Point at odd hours, you can expect there to be a line.
How to get a group picture at the Southernmost Point (with your whole family)
What often happens at the Southernmost Point is that the people in front of you or behind you will take a picture for you so that you can get a group picture with everyone in your group so the picture taker of your group isn’t left out of the picture!
