If you want coffee or tea first thing in the morning during your Princess cruise without leaving your cabin, then you can do room service for breakfast in the form of the “stateroom breakfast”!
It’s free to get breakfast delivered to your room if you use the classic door hanger menu!
Here are the basics of how to get breakfast room service to your cabin during your Princess cruise:
- You will receive a breakfast card in your cabin.
- Fill out the breakfast card with your requested items and time, and place it on your door handle before you go to bed.
- In the morning, breakfast will be served at the time you requested!
- In the evening, your room steward will give you another breakfast card, so you can repeat the process!

The stateroom breakfast isn’t anything glamorous, but I don’t like to eat a lot first thing in the morning anyway, so I found it to be perfect.
I ordered a few light items to get be started in the morning.
👆 You can order fruit for breakfast, including banana and orange. You can also get a banana in the buffet, but this seems to be an “on-request” type thing, as I don’t think I’ve ever seen them out. If you want a banana at the buffet, ask a waiter if you can get a banana. I also liked that the orange was sliced and ready to eat! You can sometimes get whole oranges in the buffet.
Most importantly, I requested a pot of hot water so I could start making my TEA immediately upon waking up!
I literally wrote “pot of hot water” on the breakfast card, and that’s what they brought!
There is no coffee maker in the cabins of Princess cruise ships.
So the stateroom breakfast room service is also how you can have coffee first thing in the morning without leaving your room.
If you want something more filling, you can go to the free buffet for breakfast every morning. And although I never went, the main dining room also serves free breakfast, although I’m not sure if that is every day or just sea days. Lunch in the main dining room only seemed to be available on sea days. I also never went for lunch.
Anyone staying in any type of cabin can get free breakfast delivered to your cabin.
So you can get breakfast room service even if you are staying in a measly inside cabin!
I can call it a measly inside cabin because I was staying in a measly inside cabin during the cruise I got breakfast room service every port day! 😆
I finally tried the stateroom breakfast room service on my third Princess cruise.
I really wanted hot water so I could make tea first thing in the morning, and having morning excursions meant limited time in the morning to prepare said tea on my own.
Getting hot water on my own would mean waking up even earlier and immediately making my way to the buffet area to get hot water.
Well, it’s so much easier if you have your hot water delivered to your stateroom first thing in the morning!
How convenient!
So room service would mean that I could have my tea almost immediately without having to get dressed, walk down the hall, walk through the buffet, etc etc!
I did get myself a cabin just below the lido deck to make access to the buffet area easier! The buffet is on lido deck. aka you can get hot water (and basic coffee and tea) on your own on lido deck, for free.
So the room service at breakfast also turned into my wake-up call.
👆 I started to put a chair right next to the door so that I could just open the door and have the breakfast placed there!
There was even one breakfast I decided I didn’t want milk with my cereal so I didn’t request milk.
Well, they brought me milk anyway thinking I had just forgotten to request it with the cereal.
How thoughtful! I decided to use the milk after all!
What time can you get breakfast?
You can request breakfast to arrive to your cabin between 6:30am and 10:30am.
Now, I did not pay attention to the breakfast delivery timings that closely to know how on-time the deliveries were.
I had just woken up, after all.
But I do think the day I selected a later time, the breakfast came a little past the time I indicated. This was not a problem, just an observation.
And one the day I selected an early time, it did come either on time or early.
So perhaps the later the time you select, the more of a chance there is for them to get backed up… ?! 🤔
Just something to keep in mind if the time you receive your breakfast is important to you!
