The Lanikai Monument is an obvious structure that you will see on your way to Lanikai.
The best way to see the Lanikai Monument is to walk from Kailua Beach!
The Lanikai Monument sits atop a hill, and as you are walking towards it from Kailua Beach, you will also see the famous Mokulua Islands (aka twin islands) in the background!

If you have plans to go from Kailua Beach to Lanikai Beach, then you will pass it along the way!
Otherwise, you can just make it an out-and-back walk from Kailua Beach to see the Lanikai Monument.
It will depend on where along Kailua Beach you’re starting, but it might be just a 5 minute walk to get to the Lanikai Monument!
And, the walk will come with amazing views of Kailua Bay and the ocean!

Well, it is an uphill walk to get to the Lanikai Monument, but since it’s short and paved, overall it’s a pretty easy walk!
But if you need (or want) to rest, there is a bench along the paved path too!

Otherwise, you can also drive by the Lanikai Monument.
It’s directly alongside the road.
Once you have made it to the Lanikai Monument, you can turn around to walk back towards Kailua Beach, or you can keep going in the same direction to Lanikai Beach or the Lanikai Pillbox hike!

If you are taking the bus to Lanikai Beach or the Lanikai Pillbox hike, then you will also pass by the Lanikai Monument.
