Hi there!
I did come across a bunch of shells in the Florida Panhandle on Navarre Beach!
So if you have a trip planned to Navarre Beach, you can be on the lookout for shells too as you are walking the beach!

I went to the Navarre Beach public access that was the furthest away from the main Navarre Beach access.
The main Navarre Beach access is at the Navarre Beach pier. (I saw dolphins at Navarre Beach from the pier!)
And then you can drive to the west and you will come across a number of smaller public access spots with parking lots.
I was driving from the direction of Pensacola Beach and the Santa Rosa area of Gulf Islands National Seashore, so it was a drive to the east to get to Navarre Beach.
I was coming from Opal Beach of Gulf Islands National Seashore where I saw a bunch of small shells without trying too hard.
I was curious if Navarre Beach also had shells.
And yes, there were a ton of small shells that were scattered on Navarre Beach!
I did not try very hard at Navarre Beach (even less than Opal Beach!), and it was so easy to find lots of small shells!
👆 Navarre Beach shells! You can go shelling in Florida at Navarre Beach.
👆 Navarre Beach shells! On this particular day at Navarre Beach in December, it was easy to find a bunch of these types of shells! All you had to do was scoop up a couple of handfuls of shells!
🐠 Side note! If you're doing any type of swimming, like at the beach, for snorkeling, or at some springs, here are things you must consider packing for Florida!
You can find these things on Amazon. I am an Amazon Associate.
- Swimsuit or swimming shirt aka rash guard
- rash guard: swim set for women and swim shirt for men
- Water shoes
- Waterproof phone case (so you can capture pictures underwater!)
- cheapo phone case OR waterproof camera
- I also have this "camera" wrist float to attach to my cheapo waterproof phone case so my phone won't sink to the bottom of the ocean in case I somehow let go of it. (Mine does stay afloat - test this for yourself before completely trusting it!)
- Swimming goggles or snorkeling mask set
- Reef-safe(r) sunscreen
- lightweight travel towel
I also like to go swimming with a personal swim float buoy. Not only does it help to keep me visible, but it makes for a perfect way to rest out in deeper water! Oh, and it also serves as a dry bag so I can take stuff into the water with me.
Another way I have taken valuables into the water with me is to wear a travel money belt that I don't mind getting wet with salt water (it's not waterproof but I have several so I just use one of them) and then I put things in a ziplock freezer bag, and put that freezer bag in the money belt.
There are also designated waterproof waist pouches that you can store your valuables and take into the water with you.
How to save money on your trip
I tend to use booking.com or hotels.com to look for the cheapest hotels. You can also try the expedia hotels site (good for car rentals too) or see if you like any of the vrbo vacation rentals.
Search for the cheapest car rentals at the airport.

Is there shelling in Navarre Beach?
Navarre Beach is not known as one of the best shelling beaches in Florida.
But, it is still possible to find shells on the beach when you go to Navarre Beach!

As is the case for shelling beaches in Florida, don’t take home anything you find that is alive. Otherwise, you can take home shells you find at Navarre Beach.

Navarre Beach shells along the beach
I saw shells on one of the smaller Navarre Beach public access spots in December 2022. As it goes with shelling, your experience may vary!
This was really just a quick trip to Navarre Beach to see if there were shells.
I stopped at the first Navarre Beach public access I came across.
Since I was coming from Gulf Islands National Seashore, this was public beach access #37A. (map)
And then the beach is practically right there.
At first I saw a few broken shells on the beach.
But then wow!
So many shells!
I really didn’t walk very far at all along the beach.
Mounds of shells were just there!
It did look like there were a lot of broken shells in the mix, but there were a lot of full seashells too.
Now, compared to other shelling beaches in Florida I’ve been to, it did seem like these Navarre Beach shells were all really small.
But if finding seashells excites you, then it’s very possible to have a happy shelling at Navarre Beach if it’s like this!
There were tons of cute little shells.
I did also go to the main Navarre Beach for a quick look, and I didn’t see the mounds of shells I saw at this smaller Navarre Beach access.
There were some shells though.
This isn’t to say that you can’t have a happy shelling experience at the main Navarre Beach, since I really didn’t try very hard to look.
In any case, if you’re headed to Navarre Beach, you can be on the lookout for shells!
And even if you don’t find shells, Navarre Beach will always come with VIEWS!
And that’s a bit about finding some Navarre Beach shells!
