So…
Yes, there are alligators in Lake Louisa State Park!
You may not want to go to Lake Louisa State Park JUST to see alligators, since it’s not exactly a guarantee to see one.
But this is one of the many Florida state parks with alligators.
If you go to a dock or pier of one of the Lake Louisa State Park lakes, then you will see a warning sign for alligators in the lake.

According to Florida State Parks:
Alligators are present along the trails and waterways of Lake Louisa State Park.
They usually eat fish, turtles, and other small animals, but may attack larger animals such as deer.
Alligators have been known to attack humans.
Alligators are dangerous.
Do not swim with alligators.
Do not approach, frighten, or feed alligators.
And, at one of these lakes in Lake Louisa State Park, I did actually see an alligator!
It was just resting there.
I also saw a turtle (tortoise) right near the alligator!
Actually I saw the turtle first, and then as I went to get a closer look at the turtle, I saw that there was an alligator too!

So Lake Louisa State Park is one of the Florida state parks that you have a chance to see alligators!
Can you go swimming in Lake Louisa State Park?
Well… that depends on you and how comfortable you are with swimming near alligators! 😜
There is one designated swimming area in Lake Louisa State Park.
The swimming beach is along the shores of Lake Louisa.

But again, there are signs at the Lake Louisa beach that caution you about alligators!

As a designated swimming beach though, I guess people do go swimming in Lake Louisa!
And even if you don’t want to go swimming, this part of Lake Louisa is nice as a picnic spot or just to sit and take in the views of Lake Louisa!
So you might want to go to the Lake Louisa swimming beach even if you have no interest in (potentially!) swimming near alligators!

If you do spot an alligator in the Lake Louisa swimming area, as per the alligator caution sign, you’re asked to report it to a park ranger of Florida state parks!
What the people of Florida State Parks say if you see alligators while swimming in Lake Louisa:
Immediately report alligator sighting in the swimming area to Lake Louisa State Park staff.
You can call, or you can stop by the ranger station at the Lake Louisa State Park entry. The listed phone number of Lake Louisa State Park is 352-394-3969.

Watch the video below of a Lake Louisa State Park alligator!
I saw an alligator in Lake Louisa State Park at Dixie Lake. This is a lake that can be accessed from the Lake Louisa State Park campground, from the Dixie Lake day use area, and from the Lake Louisa State Park cabins.
I saw this alligator along the Dixie Lake pier at the Lake Louisa State Park campground. As you are walking out towards the lake on the pier, the alligator was off to the right side of the pier. The kayak launch is off to the left side of the pier.
So any time you are at a pier or dock in Lake Louisa State Park, have a look down and around to see if you can see some alligators!

If you can’t see the Lake Louisa State Park alligator video above, you can watch it on youtube.
