Hi there!
So you will be camping in Florida state parks for more than a few days!
Do Florida state parks have laundry facilities for campers?
It’s possible that you may be able to do your own laundry if you are tent camping or RV camping in a Florida state park.
Yes, some Florida state park campgrounds do have laundry.
Not all Florida state parks have laundry facilities, but some of them do.

At Florida state parks that do have laundry facilities, you can wash your clothes and dry your clothes in the laundry area at the Florida state park campground.
The laundry facilities will be located at the main bathroom of the campground.
You do your own laundry!
It’s basically coin-operated laundry that you can do on your own at any time, although you might come across one that also accepts credit cards.
Better to expect it to be a coin-operated laundry machine, though!
More about what a laundry area of a Florida state park might be like!

Now…
How to do laundry in a Florida state park
So when it’s time to do laundry, you will go to the bathroom.
You will find the laundry area located in a sheltered area somewhere around the bathroom building.
So you can just walk straight up to it!
You’ll see the washing machines and dryers.
Some Florida state parks may have 2 washing machines and 2 dryers. Others may just have 1 of each.

You can expect all campgrounds to have a bench nearby the laundry machines.

👆 Florida state park campground laundry machines are outdoors in a sheltered area near the bathroom.

👆 Koreshan State Park had the most “luxurious” laundry area of any Florida state park that I went to! Tables while you wait for your laundry?! WOW!! 😆 There were ceiling fans too! Koreshan State Park is 40 minutes away from Sanibel Island, 1 hour away from Captiva Island, and 1 hour away from the ferry to the Cayo Costa State Park.
How much does laundry cost in Florida state parks?

The cost of laundry in a Florida state park will vary by state park.
But in general, the cost of the washing machine might be around $1.50 to $2.50 per load.
The cost of the dryer might similarly be around $1.50 to $2.50 per load.
So it may cost around $3 to $5 to do a load of laundry at a Florida state park campground.
The most expensive cost of laundry I saw was at a campground in the Florida Keys.
At the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park campground, it cost $3.50 to do a load in the washing machine and $2.50 to do a load in the dryer.
From what I saw, it usually wasn’t this expensive at other state parks though.
If you know that you will be doing laundry during your camping trip, it could be good to bring along quarters.
There are some Florida state park campground laundry facilities that only accept coins… and more specifically will only accept quarters.

There may or may not be a change machine for you to get coins.

👆 When I went camping, the Henderson Beach State Park campground had laundry machines that accept coins only. There was a change machine nearby so you can get quarters from $1 bills and $5 bills. Henderson Beach State Park is in Destin FL and where you can find one of the best Florida Panhandle campgrounds.

If there’s a vending machine, you can try that to get coins.
If you insert a dollar and then “cancel” to get your money back, you might receive your money back in quarters.

👆 When I went camping, the Silver Springs State Park campground had laundry that accepts coins only. There was a vending machine nearby that you can attempt to get quarters out of.

👆 When I went camping, the Koreshan State Park campground had laundry that accepts coins only. There was a vending machine nearby that you can attempt to get quarters out of.
There may be laundry facilities at Florida state park campgrounds that accept credit cards, but it seems more often that the washers and dryers accept coins only.

👆 When I went camping, the Collier Seminole State Park campground had laundry that accepts credit card only. Collier Seminole State Park is 20 minutes away from Marco Island and 30 minutes away from the Gulf Coast Visitor Center of Everglades National Park where you can take a Ten Thousand Islands boat tour. It’s also along the Tamiami Trail, and if you drive east you have a chance to see alligators along the Tamiami Trail!
You will also want to bring laundry detergent with you, as you won’t find any in the laundry area of the campground.
You may also want to bring along some dryer sheets in a ziplock bag too. Add dryer sheets to your Florida camping packing list!
How to find out if the Florida state park you’re camping in has laundry
- Google for the Florida state park you’ll be camping in
- If the “experiences and amenities” page comes up for the state park at floridastateparks.org, click that! Or, click on the main page for the state park, and then look for the “park menu” and find “experiences and amenities,” and click that!
- If you’re on desktop, do a ctrl+F search for “laundry.” If you’re on mobile, do a find-in-page search for “laundry.” (Or, if you have a different method, do that!)
- If something comes up, the Florida state park has laundry!
To find out whether or not you need to bring quarters for your Florida state park camping trip, you can call up the specific state park and ask if the laundry machine accepts credit card.
And then of course, instead of looking online, you can also call the state park you’ll be camping at and ask that way too!
If you don’t see a mention of laundry on the specific state park page, chances are there is likely no laundry. But still, you are actually better off calling anyway, because it’s possible that the state park does have laundry and it’s just not listed. (I am pretty sure I have seen that.)
And that’s a bit about doing laundry at Florida state park campgrounds!
The way of doing laundry subject to change! I spent 30 nights camping in Florida state parks over several months in 2022, and this was my general observation!
