There are basically 3 spots that you can eat at if you are looking for a meal off of the cruise ship.
The restaurants near the Icy Strait Point cruise port are the Duck Point Smokehouse, the Cookhouse, and the Crab House.
Basically, once you get off the cruise ship and start walking along the shoreline, you will come across these Icy Strait Point restaurants, in this order.
So you can walk to them from the cruise port.
ð There are a few restaurants near the Icy Strait Point cruise port, including the Duck Point Smokehouse.
ð You can walk the Icy Strait Point boardwalk to the Crab House restaurant from the Icy Strait Point cruise port.
Another food spot in Icy Strait Point is Lil Gen’s donuts. Yes, they sell donuts. It’s a little shack where you can choose from a bunch of different donut flavors.
You can also walk to the donut shop from the cruise port.
You can also take a shuttle to Hoonah or walk to Hoonah.
In Hoonah, you can go to the Icy Strait brewery and the Fishermans Daughter cafe.
The shuttle will drop you off basically right in front of the Icy Strait Point Brewery, while you’ll have to walk a little to go to the Fisherman’s Daughter. (Hoonah is not that big.)
I actually did have a little trouble locating the Fisherman’s Daughter but all part of the experience! ðĪŠ It was mostly due to being incapable of reading the paper map of Hoonah. ð You’ll be fine!
And then of course, you can always get back on the cruise ship and eat at the buffet while enjoying the views of Icy Strait Point!

Icy Strait Point restaurants near the cruise port
1. Duck Point Smokehouse
Coming off the cruise ship of the “adventure landing” pier (or off the gondola if your cruise ship is docked at the pier “wilderness landing” pier that’s further away), you will see the Duck Point Smokehouse and the Duck Point Bar.
The Duck Point Smokehouse is the Icy Strait Point restaurant that is closest to the cruise port.
ð You will see the Duck Point Smokehouse restaurant as you are walking off the cruise ship if it’s docked at the adventure landing pier. Note the water level.
ð You will see the Duck Point Smokehouse restaurant at low tide! During my many Alaska cruise excursions, many tour guides mentioned the extreme tidal swings of Southeast Alaska. You can see that visiting many of the Alaska cruise ports, including Icy Strait Point. When you get off the ship, take note of the water level. Then, when you get back on, also take note of the water level! If some hours have passed, chances are you will notice a difference! In Skagway cruise port, it’s noticeable at the Skagway footbridge.
Being the closest to the cruise ship also means it’s probably the one that gets the most traffic as lots of people stop for the first restaurant they see.
So if you see a lot of people… try the next restaurant!
As per reviews, that stated they waited a very long time because of how many people there were.

2. The Cookhouse
Then you will walk further along, which will take you on a boardwalk along the shoreline.
You can also walk down to the “beach” on your way to the Cookhouse restaurant, and apparently you might see starfish in the water!
Right along the boardwalk is the Cookhouse restaurant.

3. The Crab House
And then walk further along, you’ll see signs for the “town shuttle” in one direction (left) and the Crab House in the other (right).
The boardwalk continues along the shoreline.
Then you will reach the Crab House!
