Hi there!
So Bridal Veil Falls in Black Hills National Forest can make for an easy stop as part of your drive along Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway!
There is a waterfalls overlook located right along the side of the road.
So Bridal Veil Falls is the easiest waterfalls to see in Spearfish Canyon!
If the waterfalls have good water flow… 😜
According to Visit Spearfish:
Bridal Veil Falls flows intensely in the spring and slows considerably in late summer and fall.
So the best time to see Bridal Veil Falls in Spearfish Canyon is the spring or early to mid-summer!
And well, I saw the waterfalls in the fall at the end of September… and indeed it was just a trickle!

👆 Spot the waterfalls! 😜

👆 The Black Hills National Forest scenic overlook for Bridal Veil Falls is up ahead.

But no matter the season, it’s an easy stop to make, so you might as well take a look!
There is an official waterfalls overlook here.

Bridal Veil Falls parking
The Bridal Veil Falls parking area is across the road from the overlook.
The parking area is directly along the Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway.

So if you want to stop, you’ll park and make a simple walk across the road to get a closer look at the waterfalls!

You can also see the waterfalls from the road, so you can even just do a slow drive by to see them too.
This is one of the Spearfish Canyon waterfalls.
According to the US Forest Service, Bridal Veil Falls is 60 feet tall.

Here’s a bit about my stop at the Bridal Veil Falls overlook!

I ended up stopping by the Bridal Veil Falls overlook on the drive from Mount Rushmore to Devils Tower. (That was a drive from Mount Rushmore to Yellowstone with Spearfish Canyon along the way!)
This means that I was driving in the direction of Savoy SD to Spearfish SD.
Coming from Mount Rushmore, my drive along Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway started at Savoy.
Once at Savoy, I first saw the popular Spearfish Canyon waterfalls of Spearfish Falls and Roughlock Falls.
Then, it was off to drive the Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway from Savoy towards Spearfish!
Among the other stops I made was the Long Valley picnic area where you can see Spearfish Creek.
Then continuing along the Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway, you’ll see a sign as you approach the Bridal Veil Falls overlook!
Otherwise, you will also know when you’re there because it will be obvious.
👇 Less than 5 minutes to go to get to Bridal Veil Falls!

👇 Approaching the Bridal Veil Falls scenic viewpoint.

So you’ll see the parking are directly on the side of the road.
You can park, and then walk across the street to get a closer view of the waterfalls!

Hopefully you will see more than a trickle of the waterfalls!

And then once you’ve taken in the views of the waterfalls, you can continue your drive!

👆 Driving away from Bridal Veil Falls towards Spearfish, a couple of minutes away from the waterfalls!
And that’s about Bridal Veil Falls in Black Hills National Forest!
I went to see Bridal Veil Falls in September 2021. Your experience will hopefully be different and you will see bigger waterfalls!
