You can see where part of the Niagara River flows to become Bridal Veil Falls and American Falls on 2 side of Luna Island. The river is basically flowing around Luna Island to become Niagara Falls!

Cost to go to Luna Island
The cost of going to Luna Island is your cost of parking at Niagara Falls State Park. The parking fee is around $10-15. See current fees.
If you have the annual state park pass (Empire Pass), the parking is free. If you are staying at any New York state park campground, your camping permit will allow you to get free parking as well.
Or, if you park outside of Niagara Falls State Park at one of the free parking lots near the Discover Niagara shuttle stops, then you can take the free Discover Niagara shuttle into Niagara Falls State Park.
Other than the parking fee, there is no entry fee for Niagara Falls State Park.
Parking lot near Luna Island
You access Luna Island from the Goat Island part of Niagara Falls State Park.
On Goat Island, the main parking lot is the one that you’ll come across first, also called parking lot #2. You can walk a trail to Luna Island from parking lot #2, and it will be about a 5 minute walk or less. (map)
Parking lot #2 has a chance of getting full, and if this happens, then you can then move along to parking lot #3 (which is also for RVs).
From parking lot #3, you can walk the Goat Island trail about 10-15 minutes one way to get to Luna Island. (map)
If you walk the long way along the Goat Island trail to get to Luna Island, it maybe be 20-30 minutes. Along the way you can make a detour to Three Sisters Islands and Terrapin Point. (map)
Or, you can take the Niagara Scenic Trolley that loops around Goat Island and the rest of the state park. The trolley costs around $3 per person for an all-day ticket. See current fees.

There are 2 trails that lead to Luna Island. You can take the stairs or you can take a paved path with no stairs.
You are basically just looking for signs to Luna Island. There are many signs around.
From the parking lot near Luna Island, you’ll be going in the direction of the Cave of the Winds ticket booth.
Whichever path you choose, you will eventually arrive at the bridge to Luna Island!
You will cross the bridge over the Niagara River, and this is where the river flows to become Bridal Veil Falls.
Then you’ll cross the bridge, and now you are on Luna Island!

Once you are on Luna Island, you can walk around to enjoy the views of the American Falls, the Bridal Veil Falls. the Niagara River, the Niagara Gorge, and Canada across the river!
Luna Island is pretty small and it really doesn’t matter which way you go. There is a trail that loops around Luna Island.
As you are facing Canada and the river, American Falls will be off to the right of Luna Island. You will also see the Niagara Falls Observation Tower.
Then it’s a short walk to the other waterfalls overlook.
As you are facing Canada and the river, Bridal Veil Falls will be off to the left Luna Island. You will also see the Cave of the Winds when you look down.

After you’ve taken in the views of the waterfalls from Luna Island, what to do?!
Next you can go down and see Bridal Veil Falls below by going to the Cave of the Winds hurricane deck! (Bring a waterproof phone case!)
Or, take the Goat Island trail and walk from Terrapin Point to Three Sisters Islands for a different viewpoint of the Niagara River!
