Packard Park Beach is one of the South Haven beaches that you can go swimming at!

 

 

So South Haven is a Lake Michigan beach town, and there are many beach access points along the shoreline in South Haven.

 

 

 

Packard Park is one of the spots where you can get beach access in South Haven.

 

 

There is also an overlook that you can walk to from Packard Park for nice views of Lake Michigan.

 

 

If you’re looking to get away from the crowds at South Beach or North Beach, the beach at Packard Park might be one to try.

Packard Park is a small little park, but it’s big enough that when you see it it’ll feel like there’s a bit of open space.

 

 

There are also picnic tables here, so you can consider it a picnic spot near a South Haven beach that can come with views of Lake Michigan.

 

 

There is also a regular bathroom at Packard Park, along with a small changing room. So you can consider this a South Haven beach with a bathroom.

 

 

So aside from South Beach and North Beach, the way it goes in South Haven is that if you drive along North Shore Drive, you’ll come across a number of beach access spots.

As you are driving along North Shore Drive, you’ll see the open space of Packard Park.

 

 

Packard Park has a designated paid parking lot.

You can have a beach parking sticker from the City of South Haven in order to park in the paid parking area, or there is a little payment kiosk towards the beach that you can use to make your payment for the beach parking fee. The cost of parking at Packard Park is around $10. See current fees here.

 

 

Otherwise, if you want to visit this beach, there is a chance that you can find free street parking along North Shore Drive.

 

 

There is also a bike rack at the Packard Park.

Then, after you park, you can head towards Lake Michigan!

First you can take the boardwalk to stop by the overlook.

 

 

And then you can head the rest of the way down to this Lake Michigan beach!

 

 

In summer 2020 (when pics in this blog post are from), Lake Michigan was reported to have high water levels.

For South Haven beaches, this means less of a sandy shoreline.

Lake Michigan water levels can vary from year to year!

 

 

While the Packard Park beach is a public beach, this is one of the South Haven beaches that has private property off to the side of the public portion of the beach. There will likely be signs informing you of this.

 

 

Finally, while Lake Michigan is a lake, it’s a big lake! In many ways it can act like an ocean. So take care out there!
