For Lido Key, I didn’t have a goal to find shells, but as I was walking on the main Lido Key beach, I did come across a mound of shells!
So if you have a trip planned to Lido Key, you can be on the lookout for shells too as you are walking the beach!

Is there shelling in Lido Key?
Lido Key is not known as one of the best shelling beaches in Florida.
But, it is still possible to find shells on the beach when you go to Lido Key!
According to the people of Sarasota:
North Lido Beach has more shells because there are fewer crowds and it is less picked over.
Can you find sand dollars on Lido Key?
Yes, it is possible that you might see sand dollars on Lido Key!
You might see sand dollars while snorkeling at Lido Key, or even just doing a walk along Lido Beach!
Here is what a shelling enthusiast from Sarasota said on tripadvisor about shelling on Lido Key:
We love to snorkel close to shore to find sand dollars galore!
You can even spot them when walking down the edge of the water in the sand.
So, bring your snorkeling gear for shelling!
But, only LOOK and don’t take!
Because there was also a hand-written sign telling you not to take sand dollars.
👆 You are not allowed to take sand dollars from Lido Key.
And this is another indication that you do have a chance to find sand dollars while shelling on Lido Key!

There is no Lido Key beach entry for any of the Lido Key beaches.

Lido Key shells along the beach
I saw shells on the main Lido Key beach in April 2022. Your experience may vary!
This was really just a quick trip to Lido Key for me to get a glimpse of what Lido Beach is like.
So I was able to find parking when I arrived at the main Lido Beach public parking lot on a weekday morning around 11am.
There are also parking spots along the side of the road to the north of the main Lido Beach parking lot. So if shelling is your goal, you may want to look for an open parking spot along the side of the road since the people who know Lido Key best say to go north!
There is also a small parking lot to the north as well that you will see if you are driving from St Armands Circle. It seems like this is a paid parking lot. (map)
Again, I went to the main parking lot.
So you look for the beach path, and the beach is practically right there!
Once you are at the water (beauty!), if you look off to your right, that is the direction to the north.
I don’t remember exactly, but I think that is the direction I walked along the beach.
I really didn’t walk very far at all along the beach.
I first came across some shells that were scattered on the beach.
I kept walking.
And then…
More shells!
And that’s a bit about finding some Lido Key shells!
