I had 7 days on the Majestic Princess for an Alaska cruise in May 2023.
It was a northbound cruise from Vancouver to Anchorage.
7 days is really not a whole lot of time to get to know a cruise ship, especially when several of those 7 days are port days when you probably won’t be on the ship much.
But I did end up walking around a lot when the cruise ship was at sea, so I became familiar with some of the public viewing areas on the Majestic Princess.
Below is a bit of a glimpse of how you can see the amazing views outside during an Alaska cruise if you have an inside cabin… and of course if you have a balcony cabin and want to get a different angle of the views from other areas of the ship!
There is no denying that having a balcony is amazing because you can get the views from the comfort of your own room.
If you have an inside cabin, it just means that it requires a little bit of extra effort to see the views.
You will need to be out and about in order to see the views.
There will usually be a lot of people out in the public areas that sometimes you might have to look around a bit for space, especially when the cruise ship is at one of the most anticipated areas of the cruise, like at Margerie Glacier in Glacier Bay National Park.
Below will take you through various different times of the day in the public areas while the Majestic Princess cruise ship was sailing through Glacier Bay National Park on May 18, 2023!

Viewing areas on the Majestic Princess cruise ship
Basically, most of the best outdoor viewing areas on the Majestic Princess can be accessed from the lido deck.
So get yourself to the lido deck pool and take the stairs up from there wherever you see stairs!
Or get yourself to the lido deck and walk to the back of the ship and take the stairs up from there wherever you see stairs!
You can also go to the promenade deck (deck 7) near the piazza, and look for the doors to go outside.
If you want to stay inside away from the cold, you may like the Hollywood Conservatory at the front of the ship on deck 17!
1. Where to go from the Lido deck (deck 16)

How to get to this viewing area: Get yourself to the lido deck pool, and take the stairs you see!

Lido deck, back of the ship
How to get to this viewing area: Get on the lido deck (deck 16) and walk to the very back of the ship.
The lido deck is the buffet deck, so get your food and walk to the back of the ship to eat with views!

I really don’t remember how exactly I got to this spot, but maybe from taking the stairs on the lido deck from the back of the ship.
Photo to get around the ship: Get a picture with a life preserver ring that says Majestic Princess on it! You will find many of these throughout the ship.
2. Promenade deck, middle of the ship (deck 7)
How to get to this viewing area: Go to the piazza area on the promenade deck (deck 7) and look for doors to go outside.

The Alaska cruises from Seattle on the Majestic Princess will be going to Ketchikan cruise port, Juneau cruise port, and Skagway cruise port. It is an Alaska cruise with one glacier sea day going to Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier. It will also be making a stop at Victoria cruise port in Canada.
This Alaska cruise from Seattle does not go to Glacier Bay National Park.
