Yes, you can drive to Mendenhall Glacier on your own.
One of the ways some people get to Mendenhall Glacier from the Juneau cruise port is by renting a car.
There is a parking lot at the Mendenhall Glacier, and parking is free.
But there is an entry fee of $5 per person for the Mendenhall Glacier Recreation Area, and this is on the honor code. See current fees.
If you have an America the Beautiful pass, then the Mendenhall Glacier is one of the public lands that is covered.
👆 There is a parking lot at the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center, so you can drive to Mendenhall Glacier on your own if you have a car. Parking is free at Mendenhall Glacier, but there is an entry fee for this area of Tongass National Forest.
If you will be driving yourself to Mendenhall Glacier, then there is a parking lot a short walk away from the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center.
The overlook from the visitor center is the place view of the glacier.
You can keep walking past the visitor center to do the Photo Point Trail and Nugget Falls Trail.
